Birthday Month TBR

July is my birthday! Not just one day, the whole month… lol not really. On July 9th I will be turning 24. I have some ideas as to what I want to do blog-wise in order to celebrate but I haven’t settled on one idea just yet. There are a lot of good books that have popped up on my radar recently and I cannot wait to get to them. These are going to be books that involve my favorite tropes, settings, and situations. They might also be from my favorite author! I’ll include why each book appeals to me so much in the post below. Let’s get to it!

Why I Want To Read:

This is actually the book that inspired me to make this list. It sounds like the perfect summer scares book. It reminds me of old summer horror classics. I think horror stories that take place on a camping trip are very compelling and spooky! The image of camping in a secluded area in a thick forest is scary because I feel like we have all been there before.

36342156The Anomaly by Michael Rutger

Published June 19th, 2018 by Grand Central Publishing

Why I Want To Read:

I actually already have acquired this one! I got it because I have been very much drawn to picking up some sci-fi in the future. It sounds weird and cool and exactly what I’m looking for. The cave vibes also remind me of the movie The Descent which is one of my favorite horror movies. The synopsis does hint that there might be some weird things happening so that also reminds me of the movie As Above So Below which I didn’t like as much as we’ll see what happens.

32928987Scream All Night by Derek Milman

Publishing July 24th, 2018 by Baltzer + Bray

Why I Want To Read:

All of these tbr books have been by men which is unusual for me. This book’s setting is what draws me in. A “castle that served as the set, studio, and home to the cast and crew of dozens of cult classic B-horror movies” sounds like it’s going to be so interesting and full of strange characters. I hope that it’s different and a little scary and delightful. I see in the author’s bio that he wrote an underground humor magazine so that leads me to believe this might also be a little humorous.

30238163Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

Published April 10th, 2018 by Harlequin Teen

Why I Want To Read:

I have been meaning to get to this book forever. It’s actually next on my tbr so I carry it around with me in my tote bag in hopes that I’ll actually pick it up. I know I’m going to love it because it involved a fantastical mafia set in a fantastical city of sin. Amanda Foody is awesome and creative so I know this story is going to keep me hooked.

Let’s chat! Those are all four books that have been screaming at me to get them read. What are you excited to read in July? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading!

  1. This is arriving super late, but I hope you had a happy birthday. I also celebrate my whole birth month (October).

Scream All Night was a good book.
