Books That Have Been on My TBR The Longest

My Top Ten Tuesday is LATE (and hosted over at The Artsy Reader Girl) but it’s still in the category so I shall include it!

A fact about me: my Goodreads account is really unorganized. I only use the Want-To-Read List, the Read List, and The Currently Reading list. This means that my owned books, backlist books, and books that have not been released yet are all on the same Want-To-Read List. I don’t really mind but it also means that I might never read some of those books.

Also on my Want-To-Read list are books that I wasn’t sure I actually wanted to read. I put them on their to keep an eye out on them and if the reviews were good, I might check them out. For this list, though, I chose books that I did intend on reading but I… didn’t for some reason.

Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake

I loved Anna Dressed in Blood and was super interested in this book! I added it to my list November 19th, 2011 and it was published August 7th, 2012. It is still sitting there in the dust.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I added this to my list February 13th, 2013 and it was published March 8th 2016! I had read all of Clare’s other books and I had every intention of picking this one up. I think the problem was that this book came out so long after the others. I have every intention of trying this one though! Some day. Hopefully.

The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

I thought these books were awesome when I read them. They were creepy and romantic which was all I wanted around 2013. I added it to my list March 4th 2013 and it was published November 4th 2014. I was probably in college and just didn’t have time for it. Now the reviews say it was not as good as the others so I don’t know if I’ll ever get to it.

The Blood Keeper by Tessa Gratton

I don’t even remember what this is about although I remember the first one being enjoyable! I do want to get to Tessa Gratton’s books, especially because she has a new one coming out based on King Lear!

The Caged Graves by Diane K. Salerni

I think this book would have been right up my ally. I saw it at the library one time but never got to read it. Hopefully I can soon!

Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater

How can I call myself a Stiefvater fan and not read this book? I want to but I honestly don’t have interest in Isabel and Cole. They were some of my least favorite characters in the Wolves of Mercy Falls books. I still liked them because they’re Maggie’s characters but their perspectives were not the most fun to read from.

The Lock Artist by Steve Hamilton

I got this book on a Maggie Steifvater recommendation and it is the only book on this list that I have a physical copy of. I have owned it for years. I need to get to it and read!

The Night Circus byErin Morganstern

This book was so popular a few years ago and I just never picked it up but I really need to. After reading Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody, creepy carnivals are an auto-buy.

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

I read Out of the Easy by this author and was completely in love with that book. It made me cry at my high school lol. This was her first book and I’m sure I’ll love it but I know it will make me cry again.

Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers

Another series ender that fell by the wayside because series enders are at the greatest threat of disappointing me. It’s been on my list since 2014 and I know it will be good. Time to read it!

Let’s chat! What books do you have just waiting on the sidelines of your book reading list? How many books are on your Goodreads Want-To-Read list (mine is at 737 but it’s littered with books I need to delete)? Are your lists organized? If so, you are an inspiration to us all!

Thanks for reading!

  2. Ugh I have so many as well! I need to try the Down the TBR Hole or something to try and get it under control xD
Unlike you, I have tons of shelves for every imaginable genre and trope. It helps me find what I want when I feel like reading something specific and to stay sane hahaha
I really want to read some of these! It’s interesting to see there are a lot of sequels here too 🙂 I would drive myself mad if I didn’t finish all the series that I loved before!
