Top Ten Tuesday is a post now hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s TTT intrigued me because I do have a very good memory when it comes to the things I read (it’s my secret weapon in test taking.) So I thought that I was going to have to scroll pretty far back on my Goodreads book list! I was right. Most of these books are from 2011. It’s strange looking back on what was popular at that time. It’s also strange because some books did manage to fall completely through the cracks of my memory!
1) The Shadow Hunter series by Cassandra Clare
I read the first one, City of Bones, in 2011 and although I can remember the big points and characters of this series, I don’t really remember what happens.
2) Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Ahh when everyone loved vampires. I read this in 2011 as well and although I seemed to have enjoyed the first one okay, the ratings of the other two books of the series quickly dropped off and I abandoned it. I remember that the girl’s name was Rose and she didn’t like Rose things and the boy was older.
3) Night World by L.J. Smith
Just looking at these books brought me back to 2011 when I would devour them in one sitting. I freaking loved them and read all of the other L.J. Smith books I could get my hands on. Sadly, Strange Fate is probably never coming out. I actually wondered if Smith was dead and did some research about it while writing this post. Apparently, when the Vampire World TV show was out (is it still out? I have no idea) L.J. Smith got fired from those books which Harper Collins gave her to write. I think she writes fan fiction now?
4) Entwined by Heather Dixon
I know that this had ballet dancing in it which I thought was so cool. Also there were a lot of sisters.
5) Mercy by Rebecca Lim
This is a book that I loved so much when I read it. I believe that the character wakes up in different bodies and makes their lives better. I think I tried to read the rest in the series but couldn’t find them? I don’t know.
6) The Gathering by Kelly Armstrong
I think this was about wolves… I remember animals
7) Hereafter by Tara Hudson
This was released when it was really popular to have a girl facing away in a pretty dress on the cover. It was about ghosts and I remember someone falling out of their chair in a library because I thought that would be mortifying.
8) Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick
The first book in this zombie series, Ashes, will forever be in my brain because it was so good! Apparently I liked this one too although I have no memory of it.
9) For Darkness Shows The Stars by Diana Peterfreund
I believe I read this because it was sort of a retelling of Jane Austen’s Persuasion which is awesome. I also know it was set in the future/ set in space.
10) Desires of The Dead by Kimberly Derting
The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting is cemented in my head. I remember reading it on my bed on a Saturday in 2011, perfectly content. This I don’t remember reading at all. I think I stopped with the series because they introduced a new boy after the first one worked the whole first book to get the girl.
Let’s chat! Tell me in the comments what books you read in 2011! I really want to know!
Thanks for reading!
I. Love. Night World! Like you, I don’t think Strange Fate is going to happen, but I am still holding on to a small piece of hope that she might. Smith also got deathly sick a while back and was at the hospital for a while. I have the older editions and am collecting the new printings. LOL

I had no idea! With the amount of internet presence most of the authors I read have, it’s weird to not know about an author. Hope she’s okay! Those books were so good. I was looking at them on my shelf while I wrote this post and was considering re reading! XD
